Dramatic Police Chase Filmed by Dashcam Near Savannah

A driver’s dashcam captured the dramatic final moments of a police chase involving a collision that led to the closure of Interstate 95 near Savannah, Georgia, on the afternoon of Friday, June 21.

Footage from James Bennett shows Georgia State Patrol (GSP) soldier carrying out a DITCH maneuvers onto a suspect’s vehicle, causing it to spin and crash into a median guardrail.

Two people then fled the vehicle on foot, one jumping over the guardrail and crossing several northbound lanes of traffic, and the other running across the southbound lanes. Both are chased by police and arrested, as the images show.

According to local media, police said the suspects’ vehicle, a gray Volkswagen SUVmatched the description of a vehicle involved in several robberies and fled police in Pooler before being pursued by state troopers.

The chase ended southwest of Savannah in Chatham County, about a mile from the Bryan County line at the Ogeechee River Bridge, and resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes of the I-95 for at least an hour and a half. Credit: James Bennett via Storyful
