Celine Dion shares shocking images of distressing attack of stiff person syndrome – Entertainment News

Celine Dion has shared footage of herself suffering a torturous seven-minute seizure caused by her stiff person syndrome.

The 56-year-old “My Heart Will Go On” singer was forced to stop performing following her diagnosis with a rare disease in 2022, and has now shown the surprisingly vulnerable footage in her new documentary “I Am: Céline Dion,” which details her battle with illness, premiered Tuesday (06.25.24) on Prime Video.

It shows the singer’s doctor carrying out an assessment while she was suffering from spasms due to PSS, with sports medicine therapist Terrill Lobo saying: “Part of the disease is that as soon as you go into a contraction, sometimes …the signal to release her, does not understand, so he ends up remaining in a contractual position.

After having Céline lie down on a massage table, the singer continued to have spasms, which Terrill said could trigger “a seizure.”

The Grammy-winning artist is then seen having a seizure as the doctor calls another member of his medical team to bring him some Valium.

Céline can be heard moaning in pain as she shakes face down, and

When Terrill goes to lift her to the side, the singer begins to moan and cry.

Another shocking moment from the scene shows Céline wide-eyed and unable to move on her own – but still conscious.

She then begins to cry as the spasm continues to ravage her body and when Terrill asks her to try to “calm down”, the singer begins to sob harder.

We see Céline receive two doses of a nasal spray before she begins to come out of her seizure.

Terrill says if she hadn’t recovered, she would have had to be rushed to the hospital.

Céline says that after she recovered, the incidents made her “so embarrassed.”

She adds, “I don’t know how to express it, it’s just, you know, like, not having control of yourself?”

Terrill says it was probably triggered by her being in a music studio shortly before it started, with the lights likely leading to “overstimulation” of her brain.

Céline asks when he explains it: “Okay, what am I going to do? If I can’t be stimulated by what I love, then I’ll go on stage and, like, you’re going to put the pulse oximeter on me and you’re going to turn me on my back?

Terrill says: “It’s scary, I know. It’s hard. This isn’t the end of your journey – we all know that. But it’s still this stage of this journey.

Celine insisted she was determined to get back on stage despite her SPS, the diagnosis of which forced her to postpone her Las Vegas residency in October 2021 and cancel her North American tour months later.
