Suspect hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving Monticello Police that occurred Wednesday.

Monticello Police Department officers encountered a suspect near a gas station who pulled a gun on them as he got into a vehicle.

The officer then fired his gun, hitting the suspect.

The suspect was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect will be arrested when he is released from the hospital.

The officers involved did not sustain serious physical injuries.
