A Delaware County motorist is facing drug and weapons charges

Alyssa Leslie, 30, of Darby, Delaware County, was driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade and was stopped by state police about 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the city’s 800 block of Sheridan Street for illegal window tint.

After spotting a marijuana vape pen in the vehicle, officers asked her permission to search the car, which she agreed to, according to an affidavit. Police found 21 grams of leaf marijuana and a loaded handgun in the car. She had a permit for the gun, but it expired in March 2023, police said.

Leslie was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia plus five misdemeanors. She was initially jailed but has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $10,000 bail.

An elderly Lycoming Township man charged with drug-related charges

Jacob Thomas Greenly, 36, of 34 Catherine Drive, Apartment 34, has been charged by the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit with attempted delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cell phone following an incident in which he admitted he was driving to sell methamphetamine to another person when he was intercepted by a county detective at the city’s High and Rose streets about 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 18, an affidavit alleged. Greenly was carrying a container of the controlled substance, the court document said.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, he was released on $50,000 bail.

Three women are charged in two separate incidents

An-Nisa Nichole Jones, 25, of Lewisburg, and Nahjay Jackson, 22, of 815 W. Fourth St., have both been charged with misdemeanor simple assault and harassment for attacking a female acquaintance, Iyonna Edkins, after the two met had acted violently. entered Edkins’ home at 617 Third A. around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, city police alleged in an affidavit. Edkins suffered a swollen lip in the attack, police said. Jones and Jackson were arraigned hours later before District Judge Gary Whiteman and initially jailed, but have since been released on $15,000 bail each. The two have waived their preliminary hearings.

In another criminal case, Edkins, 24, was listed as a defendant in a case in which state police charged her with theft of services and criminal trespass. The charges stem from her staying in a guest room at the Econo Lodge, 2019 E. Third St., on Sept. 27 after management barred her from Loyalsock Township operations, police said. The room had not been paid for, an affidavit stated. There was no explanation as to how Edkins obtained a room key. She was arraigned before Whiteman earlier this week and released on $10,000 bail.

Domestic unrest leads to charges against Montoursville man

Alan Stephen Walker, 40, of 1301 Spruce St., Montoursville, is charged with terroristic threats, false imprisonment and intimidation after he “endangered” his girlfriend, and told her he would “Knock the (expletive) out of her” during a domestic disturbance at the couple’s home around 8:40 p.m. on September 29, a city police affidavit alleged. He also pushed the woman onto a couch and wouldn’t let her get up, the victim told police.

When officers arrived on the scene, it was clear to them that Walker was intoxicated while waving, the court document said. According to police, there was also a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. The woman said she had bruises on her left thigh and left arm, police added.

Walker waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $15,000 bail.

Disabled motorist faces an additional weapons charge

Criminal charges have been filed against impaired motorist Isak Fowler after he found himself carrying a loaded short-barreled rifle “a sound-suppressing muzzle device” attached to it, it was discovered in his pickup that state police stopped at Lincoln Drive and Tinsman Avenue on March 5 around 12:10 p.m.

Fowler, 25, of 62 Katzmaier Road, Montoursville, was stopped for failure to use a turn signal and the center brake light not working, police said. Minutes after the stop, a fire broke out in the truck’s front wheel well, and both Fowler and a passenger were ordered from the vehicle for their own safety. One of the soldiers quickly extinguished the fire.

Fowler’s speech was slow and slow, and troopers noticed an open beer can in the center console, an affidavit said. Police believed both Fowler and his passenger “were under the influence of alcohol”, the court document said.

The troopers took possession of a rifle that was lying on the center console with the barrel pointed toward the windshield, police said. Fowler had a BAC of .14, police said. Fowler was charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, drink-driving and five misdemeanors. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $10,000 bail.

Second person charged in gun case

Cassandra Jene Hughes, 36, of 816 Park Ave., was charged as a convicted felon with failure to possess a firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number and endangering the welfare of a child after detectives of the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit had seized a handgun while executing a search warrant at the home she shares with John Kyle Smith at 816 Park Ave. in the city on Oct. 9, according to an affidavit.

Like Smith, Hughes has multiple felony convictions in Florida, the court document said. Hughes was arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and is free on $30,000 bail. Smith, 29, was previously charged with the same crimes and has since been held in court on identical charges. He is also free on $30,000 bail.
