Robert Whittaker responds to Khamzat Chimaev’s “see you soon” message.

It was supposed to be Robert Whittaker (26-7 MMA) against the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev (13-0 MMA) in a fight this past weekend at UFC Saudi Arabia. However, “Borz” unfortunately had to withdraw due to illness. Ikram Aliskerov stepped in to replace Chimaev and Whittaker beat him by first-round knockout last Saturday night (see that here).

After Whittakers’ victory, Chimaev took to social media and called him to say he would see him again soon.

Robert Whittaker has since apparently mocked Khamzat Chimaev’s comment during an interview with ‘From The Stands’:

“Well, I’ll say, ‘See you soon? It’s like, where? You can’t get into any country. Where you gonna see me, bro? When I’m around, right? Yeah. So it’s tough at first.

Chimaev is currently not allowed to enter the United States because of his friendship with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who is sanctioned by the United States for crimes against humanity.

The sequel to “The Reaper” shared:

“Buddy, I’m a middleweight. I don’t choose my battles. If this is a fight that the UFC wants and is still interested in making, and they want me to headline another card that way? That’s what I do. That’s why I do this. RIGHT? Our paths will certainly cross. We are both top 10 middleweights. It’s a bit of a game.”

In conclusion, Robert Whittaker, 33, said:

“But at the moment, I don’t have anyone in my sights. Like I said, I’m not looking for a fight. I’m not trying to provoke fights. I’m just waiting for them to give me a name, then I set my sights. And that’s kind of how the hunt begins.

Whittaker has now won his last two fights inside the Octagon.
