Peoria legends David Booth and Shaun Livingston reunite in New York

Two of Peoria basketball’s greatest success stories met this week in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Shaun Livingston and David Booth posed for a photo during the first round of the draft Wednesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“NBA Draft Day 2024!! Great time spent in New York with my hometown brother, Shaun Livingston!,” Booth wrote in the Facebook post, which, as of Thursday morning, had garnered nearly 400 reactions and 40 comments on the meeting of the minds of Peoria basketball.

“2 Peoria legends,” one commenter wrote.

“Two legends…great picture…Peoria proud!! You two brothers should write a book, two amazing stories to tell. Life changing,” wrote another.

Booth, 54, is the NBA’s vice president of basketball operations. He graduated from Manual in 1988 before attending DePaul University and having a 12-year professional career, mostly overseas. He spent time as a scout for the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans before spending five seasons as the Pelicans’ director of player personnel. He joined the NBA front office in 2020.

Livingston, 38, retired last summer from his role in the Golden State Warriors front office. He graduated from Peoria High in 2004 and was recruited directly into the NBA, where he overcame a devastating knee injury to build a successful 15-year career capped by a five-year stretch in which he won three championships NBA with the Warriors. He retired as a player in 2019.
