Cedar Rapids Police investigate suspicious backpack

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids Police say the Hazardous Devices Unit has determined that items in a suspect backpack are not hazardous.

The department says Wednesday at 10:49 p.m., Cedar Rapids Joint Communications received a call from Coe College security who found the backpack.

The responding units set up a perimeter. AT 11:55 PM it was determined that the items in the backpack are not dangerous and that the area is safe.
