Lady Gaga’s father opens up about how politics affected his relationship with his daughter

Politics has the power to unite, but it also has the power to divide – something Lady Gaga’s father and New York City restaurant owner are said to be feeling after Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory.

“I came out as a Republican on ‘Fox & Friends.’ Since then, things have been a little risky at home,” Joe Germanotta said on “Cavuto: from coast to coast” Wednesday.

“But you know what, we’ll get over it.”

Germanotta agreed with FOX Business’ David Asman that he considers himself an “open-minded Republican” who often aligns himself with liberal-oriented social issues.

“What really needs to happen is for people to understand that even though I’m a Republican and I have a Republican conservative stance, it doesn’t mean that I don’t support the LGBTQ community, or troll as a form of artistry.” he expanded.

“And so we use the restaurant as a venue where they, the drag performers, can come in,” Germanotta said, “and perform once a week.”

The owner of Joanne Trattoria officially endorsed Trump for president in September, but more recently his Grammy award-winning daughter made a public appearance in support of Vice President Kamala Harris on the final day of the campaign.

Lady Gaga gave a heartfelt performance alongside a star-studded lineup for Harris, including Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, James Taylor and Ricky Martin.

The father-daughter duo don’t entirely see eye to eye politically, which Germanotta has been outspoken about The Fall of New York City under democratic leadership.

If Harris had won, “I think it would have killed a lot of businesses in New York City,” the father said, claiming he had plans to move to Wyoming.

“There is a cascading effect between immigration, crime and the economy,” he said.

However, Trump’s victory felt like ‘a hat trick’ and Germanotta is ‘obviously’ happy with the end result.

“Once we get the economy back in order, and they’re drilling, baby, drilling, and the price of gas goes down, producer price index will drop, meaning consumers will get a better deal. I will be able to lower prices. It will bring more customers and we will be back to where we were five or six years ago.”
