Kiefer Sutherland’s former NYC mansion is listed for .5 million

Just over twelve years after Kiefer Sutherland sold his 19ecentury mansion in the West Village near Manhattan for $17.5 million (less than 24 hours after it hit the market, no less), the actor and musician’s former home is once again for sale. The Greek Revival-style abode greets everyone who enters the front doors with a gilded sign that reads Beau Geste (meaning Beautiful Gesture) and is now asking $20.5 million.

Records show Sutherland paid $8.25 million for the property in 2008 24 star then sold the property about four years later for $17.5 million to distressed wealth advisor David Matlin and his wife Lisa. They then transferred the house in 2015 for $17.75 million to a trust associated with Thomas Brodsky, a Manhattan-based developer, owner and manager of residential spaces in New York City.

Originally built in the early 19th century, but renovated during Sutherland’s tenure in collaboration with the designer Steven GambrelThe red brick structure has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, spread over multiple levels, accessible by both stairs and an elevator. Touted in marketing materials as “the rare and coveted combination of historic details and modern convenience,” the first floor is highlighted by a mudroom that flows into an all-white kitchen equipped with top-of-the-line appliances. An adjoining family room with one of eight fireplaces found throughout opens onto a landscaped courtyard through a breakfast nook with a wine fridge and sofa seating.

The second floor courtyard is a main entrance leading to formal living and dining rooms, and occupying the entire third floor is a primary suite with a private terrace, two walk-in closets and a marble-clad bath with dual sinks, a built-in soaking tub and a separate shower. The fourth and fifth floors feature a further four en-suite bedrooms, with stairs leading to a roof terrace with seating and dining areas, plus an outdoor kitchen and shower.

Wrapping up the entryshared by Chris Poore, Serena Boardman and Eyal Dagan of Sotheby’s International Realty, is a finished basement with a wine cellar, laundry facilities and a cedar closet.

The eldest son of the late actor Donald Sutherland has now moved to different living arrangements. Earlier this year he sold a modest copy Tudor style English residence tucked away in LA’s trendy Atwater Village neighborhood for $1.6 million. And in 2022, around the same time he quietly sold his longtime estate in Los Angeles’ Toluca Lake neighborhood to Hollywood couple Macauley Culkin and Brenda Song in an off-market deal for $8 million, he bought a 73-acre historic retreat hectares. in New York’s Hudson Valley for $5 million.
