Rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle Damon Meets Rescuer While Recovering

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A very grateful loggerhead sea turtle was reunited with its rescuer this week.

Last month, boaters noticed a sea turtle swimming nearby, unable to dive and appearing exhausted. They called in experts from the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, and responders were able to get the massive turtle onto the boat with a little help, including from a man named Damon.

They also nicknamed the rescued turtle Damon, after he gave his human namesake a friendly bite.

This week, the two met again as the sea turtle recovered at the marine lab.

Damon the turtle is currently recovering from problems with his shell. The lab says he is swimming, diving and eating more every day.
