MONCKS CORNER, SC – (Friday, July 5, 2024) – Berkeley County is hosting an informational workshop this month on its new Homeownership Development Program, an initiative to help finance the construction of affordable housing projects throughout the county. Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the program is part of the county’s new Real Estate Investment Partnerships (HOME) program.

The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Berkeley County Administration Building Meeting Room, located at 1003 N. Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. **Developers interested in learning more about the HOME and Home Development programs and how to apply for funding for an affordable housing project are encouraged to register.**

Pre-registration is required to participate in the workshop and must be done HERE before Monday, July 22, 2024 at noon. Attendance is mandatory for developers wishing to apply.

This is the first year that Berkeley County has offered HOME funding and is expected to receive the HUD grant every year going forward. The program “funds a wide range of activities, including the construction, purchase, and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing for rental or homeownership purposes, or the provision of direct rental assistance to low-income individuals,” according to hud.gov.
