Fender Flagship Tokyo Launches Hokusai-Inspired Guitar Series for First Anniversary

Fender Flagship Tokyo Launches Hokusai-Inspired Guitar Series for First Anniversary

On June 11, Fender Flagship Tokyo opened reservations for Made in Japan Art Canvas Hokusai, a collection of three electric guitars with designs inspired by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849).

Hokusai is best known for his ukiyo-e style woodblock prints depicting various views of Mount Fuji at different times and seasons. Three of his most popular works are featured in the collection, which is limited to 198,000 yen each.

The original work on which this drawing is based is known as Thunderstorm Beneath the Summit or Rainstorm Beneath the Summit. Judging from the appearance of the mountain and clouds, this work is likely based on a view of the west face of Mount Fuji.

Inspired by the Tama River in Musashi Prefecture, this work depicts Mount Fuji as seen from present-day Tokyo. This particular work features characters as well as a natural landscape, adding a playful contrast.

To reserve one of these Hokusai masterpieces on Made in Japan art canvas, you’ll need to visit the Fender Flagship Store in Tokyo in person to fill out a reservation form and the money for the instrument. The guitars are expected to ship in late November 2024. If you’re thinking about getting one of these bad boys, we’ve got the store address below.
