Centralia City Council Considers New Water Contracts With Hoffman, Hoyleton Rural With Higher Rates

The Centralia City Council will be asked Monday night to approve new water sales agreements with the Village of Hoffman and the Hoyleton Rural Water Company.

City Manager Kory Smith said the rate effective July 1 for both water systems will increase from $2.60 to $4.10 per thousand gallons of water. There will be an annual adjustment to account for annual inflation through the end of the contract in 2029. The agreements will require both water companies to purchase 75 percent of their water from the city of Centralia.

Smith said the contracts are among nine the city has with satellite water systems. The terms are similar to contracts with Raccoon Water Company and Irvington that were approved last year.

The board will also be asked to approve a resolution to extend the school resource officer program at Centralia High School for four more years. The cost to Centralia High School will drop from $11,441 per month to $9,466 per month after an assessment of current costs incurred. The Centralia High School Board has already approved the agreement. It is similar to the four-year agreement already in place with Centralia City Schools.

The council will be asked to accept a $1,512 donation from the Centralia American Legion to replace the roof of the American Legion Pavilion at Fairview Park. The donation will be used to pay for materials, with installation to be done by city staff. The roof will coordinate with the existing red, white and blue color scheme.

The meeting begins at six o’clock Monday evening at Centralia City Hall.
