Mumbai Rain: Panchavati Express Cancelled Two Consecutive Days Due to Heavy Rain in Mumbai |  Nashik News

Nashik: Heavy rain in Mumbai led to rescheduling or cancellation of many trains, including the Panchavati Express, for the second consecutive day on Monday owing to water logging on railway tracks. Long distance trains were not cancelled, but rescheduled. Senior officials of the Nashik Road Railway station said that railway traffic would be uncertain over the next two days owing to the inclement weather in Mumbai. Major trains like Dhule-Mumbai Nagpur Sevagram Express, Janshatabdi were cancelled. Panchavati Express from Manmad to Mumbai was cancelled on reaching Nashik. The Dhule-Mumbai train operated till Igatpuri. Senior officials of the Nashik Road railway station said that the railways decided to cancel the inter-city trains to and from Mumbai. Railway officials said that the announcement of cancellation of Panchavati express was made at Nashik Road station owing to which many passengers decided to not board the train. Other passengers to Mumbai took the long-distance trains arriving at Nashik Road railway station. Approximately 2,200 passengers travel by Panchavati Express to Mumbai daily. Senior officials of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) said buses to Mumbai ply as usual from Nashik. Owing to the rain they took 8 to 9 hours instead of the usual 4 hours to reach Mumbai. 81 MSRTC buses ply through Nashik to Mumbai and 43 buses ply till Kasara, from where passengers take local trains.
