ULFC’s Annual Gala Is ‘A Grammy-Inspired Affair’

DENVER – This year’s Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado (ULFC) annual Leadership and Legacy Gala is “a Grammy-inspired evening” that celebrates excellence and community achievement. ULFC’s leadership will honor community leaders throughout the gala.

ULFC helps develop the next generation of Black leaders in Colorado.

“When the Black community thrives, everyone thrives, right? The importance of it is that people are not in survival mode,” said Dr. Ryan Ross, CEO of ULFC. “People have the opportunity to thrive. They have access to information, they have access to opportunity, and most importantly, they understand the authoritarian environment. How does the city work? How does the state work? What are the nuances of politics? And that’s really important right now because I think we’re probably in one of the most important elections of our lifetimes.”

Ross said the gala is a major fundraiser for the foundation.

“We use these funds to do a lot of our initiatives, a lot of the work that we do in the community,” Ross said. “So we fund our scholarship programs at Community College of Aurora, we work on our homelessness initiative, and we also provide scholarships to emerging and new leaders who want to get involved with our association, but who may be working in the nonprofit sector or in education and who, unfortunately, in Colorado, don’t earn the kind of income that allows them to have the discretionary funds to invest in themselves.”

ULFC will host the event on Saturday, September 21 at the Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. It begins at 6:00 p.m.
