Bike4ALZ stops in Bowling Green on cross-country tour

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A group of Western Kentucky University students returned to Bowling Green after biking across the country for a good cause.

Team Bike4ALZ 12 hit campus Monday. This group of 12 students biked across America to raise money for those battling Alzheimer’s disease.

They’ve been on the road since May, starting in San Francisco, California…then traveling through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois before stopping in Bowling Green.

One of the members of Team 12 explains what motivates them.

“Everybody on this team has a purpose… and even if it’s not a personal connection like I have with my grandmother, there are so many people affected by this disease and all its forms… even if some guys don’t have a personal connection… we ride for each other and… all the guys on my team ride for my grandmother too. So… we do this for everybody that’s affected by this disease and that’s really why we go out and get up every morning really early on the bikes and beat the heat,” says Tanner Blood.

Team 12 will be hosting an event at SOKY Marketplace on Tuesday night from 5-8pm as they attempt to reach their $150,000 donation goal.

Their trek ends July 28 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
