Ready for rodeo in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — Top rodeo competitors are headed to Colorado Springs for the Pikes Peak Rodeo or Bust-NFR Open.

There’s a lot going on at the Norris-Penrose Event Center to prepare for the upcoming rodeo week.

“They’ve been setting up around the arena for about three weeks,” rodeo general manager Cory Wall said.

Preparatory work inside the arena takes place in the days leading up to the event.

The big screen for replays is set up, sponsor banners are hung and concession supplies are stocked.

Everything is organized a day in advance to keep the action flowing for competitors and spectators on the day of the show.

“From the time they sit down, I hope it’s a little before seven, because at 7 p.m. we’re going into the arena with action,” Wall said.
