Six arrested in Thunder Bay drug bust, including three from Southern Ontario

Thunder Bay, ON – A joint operation involving Thunder Bay Police, the OPP and other agencies has resulted in the arrest of six people and the seizure of suspected cocaine and fentanyl in Thunder Bay.

The Thunder Bay Police Service Intelligence Unit, with support from the Emergency Task Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Syndicate Avenue North on Wednesday, November 6.

During the search, officers seized quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Costs and possible penalties

Six people were arrested and charged with drug trafficking:

  • Jonathon Bryson, 50, from Thunder Bay: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl), possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000, and violation of a release order.
  • Deserrae Barber, 38, of Thunder Bay: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl), possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000, and violation of probation.
  • Elijah Clarke-Caboni, 18, from Brampton: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl) and possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000.
  • Levi Myran, 39, from Thunder Bay: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl) and possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000.
  • Roshawn Williams-Myers, 19, of Brampton: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl) and possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000.
  • A 17-year-old boy from Toronto: Possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking in human beings (Fentanyl) and possession of the proceeds of crime less than $5,000.

The charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking carry severe penalties upon conviction, including possible prison sentences, depending on the type and quantity of drugs involved. Violation of the release order and violation of probation may result in additional penalties for violating court-imposed conditions.

Presumption of innocence

It is important to remember that all accused persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

All suspects appeared in court on Thursday, November 7 and were remanded in custody pending future court appearances.

This incident highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in Thunder Bay.
