Roaring Fork Schools Announce Administrative Changes

The Roaring Fork School District announced two administrative changes via a pair of press releases Wednesday, naming Christy Chicoine as the new chief financial officer and transitioning former public information officer Jonathan Landon to a new role as senior project manager and executive assistant to the board of education.

Chicoine, who served as Garfield Re-2’s chief financial officer for more than 16 years, was recognized by Superintendent Anna Cole for her financial management and transparency. She steps into her new role following the departure of former CFO Nathan Markham.

“Throughout the interview process, Christy demonstrated extensive experience, commitment to community and demonstrated excellence in school and municipal financial leadership,” Cole said in the release. “We are excited to welcome Christy to Roaring Fork Schools and support her, the district’s finance team and stakeholders throughout the CFO transition process.”

Chicoine expressed his enthusiasm about his new role.

“I enjoy working for the community and making a difference,” Chicoine said in the release. “Financial transparency and accountability focus resources on organizational and community goals to increase positive outcomes over time. While it will take time to learn the ropes within the district, I am excited to bring the same focus I have gained in my previous roles to the Roaring Fork School District.”

Landon, who previously served as chief of staff and public information officer, will no longer be the district’s designated PIO, ceasing his oversight of media relations and the communications department.

“Over the past year, it has been an honor and privilege to connect with our incredibly committed and talented staff, serve our school families in the Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Basalt communities, and engage regularly with our local media partners,” Landon said in the release. “I look forward to continuing to serve our school board and the Carbondale district office in the 2024/2025 school year and beyond.”

Cole expressed strong support for Landon’s transition to a new role.

“We are pleased to support Jonathan in this new, focused role,” Cole said in the release. “He brings a wealth of experience to the job and will continue to help our leadership teams advance the district’s mission and priorities.”
