For a quarter century, MEMRI has provided essential research, translations of primary sources, and original analysis to the governments of the United States and its allies, as well as their counterterrorism officials, law enforcement, militaries, and other authorities, helping them confront threats and confront their adversaries. We work with news organizations and media outlets to help them better understand the complexities of issues and developments in all of these countries, and we serve as a valuable resource for academia worldwide.

Since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the MEMRI team has been closely following the war between Israel and Hamas 24 hours a day, seven days a week, publishing an unprecedented number of reports and clips—nearly 600 in the first eight weeks of the war. The translated MEMRI TV clips we have broadcast during this period have been viewed more than 80 million times.

MEMRI’s research fills a major gap, providing significant intelligence value. We help governments around the world with our latest research—in the United States, Canada, Israel, and Europe. In its 25th year, MEMRI is once again demonstrating that we are at the forefront of this field.

MEMRI continues to assist law enforcement by informing and educating counterterrorism authorities, law enforcement, and other authorities. Our research has assisted the Departments of State and Treasury, law enforcement, and other agencies. MEMRI research has been used in public forums by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby. MEMRI research is shared on social media by prominent political leaders, including members of Congress. Notably, MEMRI has provided research and assistance to the Department of Justice and other authorities in prosecuting Hamas for the October 7 murder and kidnapping of American citizens.

As one of the most productive nonprofit think tanks in the United States, focused on the Middle East and South Asia and threats to the United States and the West, our research output matches or exceeds that of similar organizations many times our size and with many times our budget. So far in 2024, we have published more than 510 translations, analysis articles, and special policy briefs, and broadcast 442 MEMRI TV clips. On social media—YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram—and now WhatsApp—we have more than 500,000 followers.

With the ongoing war in Gaza, Iranian aggression, Qatar’s continued support for jihadist terrorism, and heightened tensions in the region and in the United States and the West, including violent anti-Israel and anti-Semitic protests, our work is more critical than ever. Please consider contributing to support MEMRI today. No other organization does the work we do.

MEMRI RESEARCH ON HAMAS: TRANSLATION AND ANALYSIS

Since October 7, 2023, when Hamas invaded southern Israel, killing over 1,200 people and abducting over 240 in Gaza, we have focused primarily on the war between Israel and Hamas. We have translated and published Statements by Hamas leadersexpressions of support for and condemnation of Hamas by government officials and in the media across the Arab and Muslim world; inflammatory anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli, anti-American, and even pro-Hamas statements by imams in mosques in the United States and the West; and much more. MEMRI maintains the world’s largest archive of translations of Hamas and Palestinian content spanning the past 25 years.

A video compilation of MEMRI TV clips of statements by Hamas leaders during the first three months of the war can be viewed by clicking on here or by scanning the QR codes below. A compilation of reports on these statements from this period can be read here.

THE HEZBULLAH THREAT TO ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES – AND HEZBULLAH MILITANTS IN THE UNITED STATES

As the war between Israel and Gaza continues, daily rocket and drone strikes by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah toward northern Israel have intensified. In recent months, MEMRI has focused on Hezbollah, documenting its threats to strike targets in the Mediterranean and even southern Europe in addition to Israel, as well as its calls to invest in anti-Israel protests at Western universities in order to “penetrate the heart of Western societies.”

THE MEMRI PROJECT SERMONS OF IMAMS IN THE WEST – MONITORING HATE AND INCITEMENT TO JIHAD

MEMRI closely monitors manifestations of jihadism in the United States. Sermons of Imams in the West The MEMRI TV Project publishes clips of hateful sermons delivered by imams in the United States and Canada, including expressions of support for the Hamas attacks of October 7, calls for Allah to annihilate all Jews, “the brothers of the apes and pigs,” and more. These clips have drawn widespread criticism from political leaders and public apologies from some imams, and have even led to arrests and deportations. One of the goals has been Dearborn, Michigan and its surroundings, the epicenter of jihadism in the United States

JIHAD IN AMERICA – THE MEMRI JIHAD AND TERRORISM STUDIES PROJECT

MEMRI is also monitoring the growing pro-jihad element of pro-Palestinian protests, both on and off college campuses, including the involvement of the PFLP-affiliated Samidoun organization, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), and others. On Jihadist platforms and online activists encourage Student protesters will take their activism to the next level – Lone Wolf and Other Attacks in the West.

MEMRI Executive Director Steven Stalinsky was the first to write in a major publication about the involvement of designated terrorist organizations in student protests on campuses across the United States. His op-ed, titled “Who’s Behind the Anti-Israel Protests? Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and Others Are Recruiting Militants in the U.S. and Across the West” was published by the the wall street journal April 22, 2024.

DENUNCIATION OF QATAR/THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AND ITS TV CHANNEL AL-JAZEERA

MEMRI covers Qatar extensively, The extremist Wahhabi/Muslim Brotherhood entity masquerading as a modern nation-state is the world’s largest sponsor of Islamist terrorism, promoted worldwide, among other things, through its Al-Jazeera news channel. To Westerners, it presents itself as a modern Western political actor, engaged in conflict mediation, usually to legitimize the terrorist organizations it supports, such as Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Hamas. It is notable that an Israeli court decision to ban Al-Jazeera TV cited a MEMRI study that found the channel posed “a real risk to state security.”

MEMRI’S IRANIAN MEDIA STUDIES PROJECT

OUR Iran Media Project The Iranian Foreign Ministry is closely following developments in Iran, including its nuclear development. More and more officials of the Iranian regime indicate in their statements that Iran is close to obtaining a nuclear weapon and is on the verge of joining the global nuclear club. This is due, according to them, to the threat that Israel poses to Iran. It should be recalled that Iran is determined, as it has repeatedly expressed, to eliminate Israel, against which it launched the largest missile attack in history in April.

MEMRI RESEARCH ON THE HOUTHIS

The MEMRI Iran Threat Monitor publishes hundreds of reports on the activities and threats of the Iranian proxy group Ansar Allah (Houthis) in Yemen. This specially designated global terrorist entity has recently escalated its threats and attacks against U.S. warships and Western commercial vessels, as well as its threats against Israel.

MEMRI RESEARCH ON IRAN-BACKED IRAQI SHIITE MILITIAS

Iran Threat Monitor also closely tracks Iranian-proxied militias in Iraq that threaten U.S. and Western forces and interests in Iraq and elsewhere. Among them is Ansar Allah Al-Awfiyaa’, which was designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the State Department last week.
