Popular Meal Subscription Fresh N Lean Suddenly Shuts Down With Cryptic Message

Fresh N Lean, the popular California-based meal delivery service, appears to have shut down suddenly.

The healthy meal plan, which is CNET’s current pick for best meal delivery for 2024posted a message on its website Thursday that read, “After 14 years of service, Fresh N Lean has been suddenly forced to close its doors by ‘lenders.’” While no further information was provided, a link to order Fresh N Lean meals or start a new subscription displayed a 404 error message.

Fresh N Lean was launched in 2010 by then-18-year-old Lauren Asseo (founder and CEO) and was one of the first in a new line of healthy prepared meal delivery options to appeal to busy people looking to eat better. The service sent healthy meals prepared to cater to a variety of diets, including ketogenic, vegan, Mediterranean, and high-protein. It was known for its use of whole foods, quality meat and seafood, and organic produce.

It is not yet clear whether the outstanding orders will be fulfilled or whether the company plans to resume operations. Company representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
