“Working in healthcare has always interested me. Helping others, whether it’s on the clinical level or behind the scenes, has always intrigued me,” says Vladimir Barthelemy, medical staff coordinator at MetroWest Medical Center.

Vladimir believes his family influenced him to work in healthcare because he comes from a family that works in hospitals, nursing homes, health agencies and other healthcare organizations.

“My parents, grandmothers, aunts and sister always told me that working in healthcare can make a difference in the lives of others. All of the guidance and wisdom I received led me to pursue a Bachelor of Public Health and a Master of Health Administration degree at Regis College.”

A MetroWest employee for a year and a half, Vladimir considers the ability to demonstrate creative ideas and strategies to be the most rewarding aspect of his career. “I can express what can be changed or added to my work. I appreciate attention to detail. I pay close attention to detail. I like to present work professionally and 100%. Another reward is being able to learn every day. The healthcare field allows me to gain more knowledge and grow professionally,” he explains.

Vladimir’s father, Frantz Barthelemy, also works at MetroWest Medical Center in the transportation department. He loves seeing him at work. “My father always motivates me and gives me strength. It’s an honor to share the same workplace with him. He is one of my role models and has shaped me into the educated young black man I am today.”

Vladimir’s most memorable experience while working at MetroWest Medical Center was his last day working in the emergency department. The nurses, staff, and coworkers threw him a special thank you party for all his work as an emergency patient access representative. “I had no idea they would do something this special for me. I was surprised but very grateful. It meant a lot to me. It’s a day I’ll never forget.”

When Vladimir is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, running/walking, listening to music, watching YouTube videos and helping his parents and the elderly in times of need.
