Hildale officials order indoor water use to be shut off after drinking water well found damaged

HILDALE, Washington County — Hildale officials advised residents Thursday night to stop using indoor water immediately after damage to a well was discovered.

“The largest drinking and culinary water well in the City of Hildale/Colorado water system has been damaged and is not functioning,” according to a Facebook post from the City of Hildale.

Officials said crews are working on the issue and will fix it as soon as possible.

“With this record heat wave, we need to maintain clean water for the health and safety of our community,” the message reads. “We also need to ensure we have enough water to fight any fires that may occur.”

The city asks residents to be considerate of their family, friends and neighbors.

The city said water usage should return to normal “within days.”
