BC Ferries cancels Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo crossings

BC Ferries cancels Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo crossings

Ferry passengers planning to travel between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island are being warned that some crossings have been cancelled heading into the weekend.

BC Ferries issued an advisory Friday morning that a “mechanical difficulty with the vessel’s emergency power supply” has resulted in four cancellations between West Vancouver and Nanaimo.

The 6:30 a.m. and 11:25 a.m. departures from Horseshoe Bay, as well as the 9:05 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. departures from Departure Bay have been impacted.

“Other sailings on this route are expected to operate as scheduled,” BC Ferries said in its notice. “We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations.”

Travellers are advised to consider using the Tsawwassen to Duke Point route as an alternative.

Anyone with a booking on an affected cruise will be contacted by the company’s customer service centre, who will attempt to accommodate travellers on a later voyage, or a refund will be offered.
