Gladiator 2 Faces Backlash Over Shocking Trailer Detail

Gladiator II It might be one of the most anticipated movies of the year, but its high-octane trailer would be criticized by fans for one main reason.

Later this year, Ridley Scott Gladiator sequel featuring Normal peoplePaul Mescal and The last of usPedro Pascal is released in theaters 24 years after the premiere of the original film.

The film, which takes place two decades after the conclusion of Russell Crowe’s novel, Gladiator sees Mescal, 28, reprise the role of Connie Nielsen’s son Lucilla.

While the three-minute trailer is packed with drama, tension, and captivating visual effects, it seems like everyone has the same problem.

At the time of writing, the Gladiator II The trailer has garnered 14 million views and 141,000 upvotes.

But according to Looper, the teaser for the sequel has garnered no less than 210,000 dislikes and counting.

But why so many negative votes on the trailer?

Well, it seems moviegoers have a problem with the soundtrack choice, namely Jay-Z and Kanye West’s 2012 collaboration track, “No Church in the Wild.”

The hip-hop record, which appeared on the 2011 album Look at the throne, has been selected to present our first look at Gladiator II – probably because it contains the lyrics: “Blood stains the doors of the Colosseum.”

However, like the original Gladiator The film favored classical epics over modern music, so it’s understandable that some fans might be upset by the song choice.

Taking to social media to weigh in on the song choice, one viewer wrote: “When the rap started playing I thought Vin Diesel was going to come roaring into the arena with his V8.”

A second said: “Great choice of music… All that’s missing is Dom Toretto riding around the Colosseum in a modified chariot.”

“When the antagonist of ‘Training Day’ went back in time to Rome to teach people how to rap before the 21st century,” joked another viewer.

While a fourth typed: “Emergency call to Hans Zimmer.”

“Producers: We have Denzel, let’s add a rap song to emphasize the Roman Empire,” someone else commented.

Although the rap track is being used to promote the film, it’s unlikely that Harry Gregson-Williams’ music will draw further attention from Jay-Z and West.

The 62-year-old has already worked on music for X-Men Origins: Wolverineas well as The Chronicles of Narnia And The Martian – the historical epic is therefore in good hands.

Gladiator II will first be released in the UK on November 15th before hitting US cinemas on November 22nd.
