‘I was ready to set the pace and he told me to attack’ – Adam Yates responds to Pogačar’s impromptu call on Pla d’Adet at Tour de France

Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) was as surprised as everyone else when his teammate and yellow jersey Tadej Pogačar asked him to attack with just over seven kilometres to go on the final climb of Pla d’Adet on stage 14 of the Tour de France.

Ultimately, the team’s tactics played a significant role in the outcome of the stage, allowing Pogačar to cross the line and then launch his own winning attack 4.6km from the top of the climb.
