Santa Rosa police arrested a 19-year-old Wednesday after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed into four cars waiting at football practice, injuring one person, officials said.

Santa Rosa police arrested a 19-year-old Wednesday after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed into four cars waiting at football practice, injuring one person, officials said.

Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. to a multi-vehicle crash in the parking lot of the A Place to Play community park, 2375 West Third St., where about 200 people, mostly families and children, were there, police said in a news release.

A gray Lexus sedan lost control after driving recklessly and collided with four parked vehicles, all occupied by parents waiting for their children’s soccer practice to end, police said.

One of the mothers suffered minor injuries to her head and shoulder. Medical personnel treated and released her at the scene.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of the Lexus, Santa Rosa resident Angel Uribe, attempted to flee to a nearby trail, but bystanders ran after him and physically restrained him until police arrived.

Uribe was on probation for a previous DUI for which he was convicted in 2023, as well as pretrial supervision for a DUI arrest on August 7.

He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for a DUI causing injury; Driving under the influence with a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher, causing injury; Hit-and-run collision causing injury; giving false identification information to a peace officer; driving with a license suspended for prior DUI; and violation of probation.

A Sonoma County Superior Court judge approved a higher bail due to the severity of the alleged offenses. Uribe is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
