Zoë Kravitz and Regina King to Star Alongside Austin Butler in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Caught Stealing’

Huston is adapting his own book for the screenplay. As reported by Deadline, which broke the news of King’s casting, “the film follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a washed-up former baseball player, as he unwittingly finds himself drawn into a fierce struggle for survival in the criminal underworld of inner-city New York in the 1990s.”

Both Kravitz and King’s roles are being kept under wraps.

Aronofsky is producing the film through his company Protozoa Pictures, along with collaborator Ari Handel.

The whaleAronofsky’s latest film, was released in 2022 and earned Brendan Fraser the Oscar for Best Actor.

In March, Butler’s lead role in Caught stealing has been announced. Butler recently starred in The bikers, Dune: Part Twofollowing his Oscar nomination for Elvis.

“I’m thrilled to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s roller coaster and adrenaline-fueled adventures to life,” Aronofsky said in a statement when Butler was cast. “I can’t wait to get started with Austin and my New York filmmaking family.”

Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink twicewhich she also co-wrote, stars Channing Tatum and is set for release in August. King was recently seen in Netflix’s Shirley Chisholm biopic, playing the revolutionary politician.
