William Mokus, 31, was in the driver’s seat; there was also a passenger in the vehicle, police said.

Both men appeared to be under the influence of narcotics; what appeared to be drug paraphernalia was observed in the center console of the vehicle, police said.

The passenger gave officers consent to search the vehicle and prior to the search, Mokus admitted to officers that there was heroin and crack cocaine in the vehicle, police said.

According to police, a search uncovered several illegal drugs.

Mokus was placed under arrest and transported to the Southold Town Police Station for arraignment, where he was released on bail for a later court appearance, police said. Police did not immediately release the charges against Mokus.
