What is the story of “Caught Stealing”?

The film will be based on Charlie Huston’s novel, which follows former professional baseball player Hank Thompson (Butler).

Hank’s neighbor Russ has to leave town in a hurry and leaves his cat, Bud, in a carrier. But it’s not until two Russians in tracksuits drag Hank to the bar where he works and beat him up until he realizes he has something to offer them. He just doesn’t know what it is, where it is, or how to make them understand that he doesn’t have it.

In the span of twenty-four hours, Hank runs across rooftops, brandishes his old aluminum bat to aim at the sore spot on a guy’s head, plays hide-and-seek with the NYPD, rides the subway with a dead man at his side, and counts a lot of money on a concrete floor…

Aronofsky tapped Huston to adapt the book for the screen.

As for Kravitz, his role in the story has not yet been revealed.

The new film sees Aronofsky in business with Sony, which picked up the book’s package and piqued the director’s interest.

Here’s what Aronofsky had to say:

“I’m thrilled to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-pumping roller coaster to life. I can’t wait to get started working with Austin and my New York filmmaking family,” said Aronofsky.

And here’s what Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Chairman Sanford Panitch said:

0″Darren is one of the most brilliant audiovisual storytellers in the world and adapting these wonderful Charlie Huston books to star Austin was too exciting an opportunity not to be a part of.”
