Former Mavericks point guard defends Klay Thompson after unfair allegations

With the NBA Summer League currently underway, Dallas Mavericks fans are eagerly awaiting October for the start of the regular season. This offseason will likely be crucial for the Mavs to take the next step and be among the title contenders once again, and one of the main reasons for that is the productive offseason they have had so far.

Dallas got things started by trading for Quentin Grimes, who should be a defensive threat for the Mavs next season, but their biggest move was a sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson.

The Mavs found the third scorer they desperately needed in the NBA playoffs, and Thompson is eager to get to work.

With the Thompson trade, the Mavs have addressed their need for more shooting while adding a great shooter who is motivated to become a Maverick. While most of the feedback from Mavs fans has been positive regarding the team’s move to trade Thompson, some skeptics are starting to emerge.

Over the weekend, a video of Thompson playing basketball surfaced and some people decided to round up some of his most negative moments and post them online. Fans were quick to say that Thompson didn’t play very well, and those skeptics are soon going to take back their words.

Thompson is one of the greatest shooters of all time, and one game means nothing.

Jordan “Jelly” Walker, a former Mavericks player who saw the comments about Thompson and came to his defense, was a former Mavericks player. Walker was on the Mavericks’ radar during the last Summer League and preseason, and he wasn’t letting the allegations that he was being cut go any further.

Walker explained that the defender in the video was fouling Thompson most of the time, and he’s right. Specifically, Walker pointed out that the defender had both hands on Thompson as he dribbled down the court, which is obviously a foul.

If you’re a Mavs fan, there’s no reason to worry about Thompson’s play in these playoffs, and he’ll do just fine. Playing alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will bring out the best in him, and it’s already been confirmed that he’ll start at power forward.

Thompson’s shooting will take the Mavs to the next level next season, and his impact on and off the court will be huge. Michael Finley complimented the character of all of the team’s newcomers during their introductory press conference, and Thompson has already become a fan favorite.

For all the latest news on Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks this offseason, stay tuned.
