Light sentence for man arrested with stolen vehicle, prosecuted in Kimball

A Mitchell man who was arrested in February after being caught with a stolen vehicle and leading authorities on a chase has been sentenced.

Garrett Rust, 24, was charged in Kimball County with counts including theft by receiving stolen property and criminal operation of a motor vehicle to evade arrest.

Last month, he pleaded not guilty to fleeing to evade arrest, and in exchange for his plea, the robbery charge was dropped.

On Friday, the district court sentenced him to the 10 days he had already served, plus court costs.
