Tenacious D’s Australian Tour Cancelled? Jack Black Reacts

Hours after Frontier Touring announced that Tenacious D’s Newcastle concert was postponed, founding member Jack Black revealed that the entire Australian tour had been cancelled, saying he had been “caught off guard” by Kyle GassDonald Trump joke.

Tuesday evening, School of Rock Comedian Jack Black shared a statement on Instagram, revealing that the remainder of the Tenacious D Australia tour and “all creative plans are on hold” following Gass’ joke about attempting to assassinate Donald Trump.

“I was taken aback by what was said at Sunday’s show,” the Tenacious D frontman wrote.

“I will never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.

“After careful consideration, I no longer believe it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative projects are on hold.”

Black then concluded his statement by thanking fans for their support and understanding.

What Did Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass Say About Donald Trump?

Former President Donald Trump was shot and killed by a 20-year-old man on Saturday, US time. Thomas Matthew Crooks who tried to shoot him dead at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

The incident sparked widespread comments from people around the world, with some creating memes and others wishing the Republican candidate a speedy recovery.

At Tenacious D’s concert in Sydney last Sunday, Jack brought out a cake to celebrate Gass’ 64th birthday.

Shortly after the joke made its way online, the band received a mixed reaction, with some fans laughing at the joke and others condemning Gass’ remark.

Breakfast radio host Kyle Sandilands criticized Gass for his comment, calling the joke “twisted shit.”

Senator Ralph Babet They demanded that the duo be expelled for the comment.

“Advocating and/or wishing for the assassination of a president is blatant, disgusting, filthy, evil and unacceptable in any form,” the senator said on X (formerly Twitter).

“I call the Prime Minister, Anthony Albaneseto join me in denouncing Tenacious D, Jack Black and band member Kyle Gass, and I call on the Minister of Immigration Andrew Giles to revoke their visas and expel them immediately.

At the time of writing, Gass has not made a statement regarding the incident or the future of Tenacious D. No official announcement has been made regarding refunds for ticket holders. However, Ticketek has asked customers to hold on to their tickets as more information becomes available.
