200 Clarke, Madison and Jackson residents offered free vaccines

The Athens Area Humane Society is hosting a free pet vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the facility located at 1030 Mitchell Bridge Road.

The clinic will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the first 200 pets from households in Clarke, Jackson and Madison counties.

Pets 6 weeks and older are eligible for vaccinations and all pets will be microchipped. Dogs will also receive a parvovirus vaccine and cats will receive vaccines for three cat-related diseases.

First-line flea and tick medications will be provided as well as vouchers for free spay/neuter procedures at the company’s clinic.

Attendees must show proof of residency and have a valid email address to receive their medical records. No appointment is necessary, but dogs must be leashed and cats must be in a carrier. Animals showing signs of illness or aggression may be turned away.
