75-year-old accused of rape from Odisha, native of Kochi, surrenders before police

K Sivaprasad (75), accused of sexually assaulting his 23-year-old housekeeper at his residence in Kochi, surrendered to the police on Saturday morning, November 9. The survivor, a tribal woman from Odisha, had gone to work at Sivaprasad’s residence in Vyttila a few days before the attack. She was allegedly drugged and raped at the house at noon on October 15 when other family members were away. The woman was rescued the next day after the family left for Guruvayur, leaving her alone in the house, with the gates locked from outside. Social workers from the Center for Migration and Inclusive Development (CMID) and the police took her to the station. A medical examination later confirmed the rape.
