Full Letter From Rep. Maxine Waters to Stop Inglewood’s ‘Ridiculous’ Billion Transit Project Before Olympics

INGLEWOOD — Rep. Maxine Waters’ office has released the full letter she wrote to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, saying the money would be “better spent on programs that improve access to affordable housing” rather than building a 1.6-mile transit project for private citizens — Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke — to use to get attendees to their sports venues, the Intuit Dome and SoFi Stadium.

Buttigieg’s federal agency committed $1 billion to the project, about half the projected cost. But after the letter was sent to members of the House Appropriations subcommittee, its chairman, Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.), cut $200 million — a slice of the total funding — in a budget bill.
