SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A man has been charged with breaking into a Spartanburg County church four times in the past two weeks.

Pastor Tim Worthy said the first burglary occurred July 2 at River View Baptist Church on Old Greenville Highway.

He said his wife went to clean the church meeting room when she noticed the door was unlocked. She then went into the church where she noticed the back window was broken.

Upon arriving at the church, Pastor Worthy learned that the church office had been broken into and the church debit card and all keys had been stolen.

He said they immediately cancelled the card and replaced all the locks.

It was also at this time that the church began planning to install WiFi and cameras so that the visitor could be identified.

Pastor Worthy said the alleged burglar returned three more times but took nothing.

“I’m glad they didn’t take anything or vandalize anything,” Pastor Worthy said.

On Tuesday, the visitor, later identified as Noah Harris, came for the last time.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office arrested Harris and charged him with three counts of burglary, four counts of malicious damage to property and one count of petit larceny.

“I hope this changes his life,” Pastor Worthy said.

Harris is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $88,000 bail.
