BLACK SABBATH’s TONY IOMMI Announces Second Signature Cologne, “Deified”

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi announced a new signature cologne, another collaboration with the Italian luxury fragrance house Xerjoff.

A combination of forces that play on the palindromic nature of sound, olfactory and sensory sequences, Tony Iommi Deified is the new Xerjoff company that presents Deified perfume with a soundtrack and music video coming soon.

Created on a duality of leather and spices, Deified plays in a loop, without beginning or end, accompanying the wearer with its omnipresent aura. The authentic and warm accents of saffron meet powdery and leathery facets that dance with the delicate touch of a gourmet freshness. Cinnamon exalts spicier notes, complemented by a sweet rose at the heart. The woody base of papyrus and patchouli leaves the senses breathless in a rhythmic exchange of back and forth.

Enter a parallel universe where mystery possesses the mind in a dark and decadent experience that casts subliminal shadows upon the wearer.

The official “Deified” The soundtrack and music video will arrive on Friday 26th July at 4pm BST.

IommiThe first signature cologne from arrived in 2021. At the time, it was described as the product of a friendship formed during the pandemic between Iommi And Sergio Momorenowned perfumer and designer for Xerjoffwell known for its unique and individual creations and collaborations in the world of perfume. Sergio is also an accomplished guitarist, and his refined fretwork could be heard on “Perfume of darkness”a song Iommi published to promote his first cologne.

While the realm of high-end perfumes and uncompromising heavy music that Iommi Although notoriously unlikely to make viable bedfellows at first glance, the guitarist’s interest in fragrance actually dates back to the early days of BLACK SABBATH.

“It’s something that’s always interested me, since the early days of products like Raw And Ancient spicethat I always received at Christmas,” recalls Tony. “Once I started going around the world with SABBATH However, I started discovering different types of perfumes from other countries and started collecting them on tour.

“I met Sergio through another friend of mine Jimmy Crutchley (who plays bass on “Perfume of darkness”) And Sergio He kindly sent me a box of his perfumes and asked if I would be interested in creating my own, which I certainly didn’t expect,” he laughed. Iommi. “I had no idea how it would work, but Sergio “He suggested I make a list of things I like the smell of, which I did. He developed different samples from my suggestions and I chose the one I liked; the project progressed from there.”

For his first cologne, Tony brought the aromatic reminiscence of 1960s and 1970s rock, festivals and gatherings, amber and patchouli. The final result harmoniously characterizes the dark sound of IommiThe famous original 1964 Monkey Special guitar with its spicy and seductive aromas.

From the beginning, Tony was instrumental in the creation of his fragrance. “I wouldn’t put my name on something that I wasn’t involved in and personally enjoyed or used,” he explained. “It’s the same with every project I’ve done, from guitars to anything else, it’s no different.”

In an interview given in November 2021 to Rolling stone, Iommi said of his interest in cologne: “Since (BLACK SABBATH) I went on tour in the United States, really, I started getting more and more interested in it. I would go to the mall or stores and buy different perfumes and scents until I found one that I really liked. And then I would stick to one for a while. Then I would change, Cartier has Tom Fordor whatever. I’ve been doing this for years. Now I have my own custom models – lots of them now.”

He was asked what flavors he preferred when he first started working with Sergio, Tony “Oh my God. I think some people threw it away because some of the samples were horrible. But some of them were great. I love the smell when you get into a new car, the smell of leather, and obviously coffee and stuff like that. Patchouli is the main ingredient in this perfume, which goes back to the ’60s. I knew the smell of patchouli back then; they used it to mask the smell of people smoking drugs.Laughs)”
