Driver flees after traffic stop; handgun found in vehicle

On Saturday, the official Twitter/X account for the Montgomery County-Bethesda 2nd Police District announced that a suspect had been apprehended and a handgun recovered following a traffic stop in Bethesda.

The tweet read: “Early this morning, while most of us were asleep, Officer Harvey observed a traffic violation in downtown Bethesda. The driver of the car immediately fled on foot. He was apprehended and a search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm handgun. The driver is a prohibited person who was driving with a suspended license and has been arrested and charged accordingly. Great job by Officer Harvey and the Midnight Shift!”
