The Lanka Premier League (LPL) witnessed a highly unusual sequence of events during the Qualifier 1 match on July 18 after Galle Marvels captain, Niroshan Dickwellafound himself at the centre of a bizarre dismissal against the Jaffna Kings.

Dickwellafacing a delivery from Azmatullah Omarzai, appeared to move the ball behind the stumps.

This led to Omarzai and wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis appealing for being caught behind, but the on-field umpire declared Dickwella not out.

But in a surprising turn of events, Dickwella has chosen to reconsider his decision.

As per protocol, the referees had to review the decision at the player’s request. This time, at Dickwella’s request, the on-field decision was overturned, resulting in his dismissal.

This bizarre turn of events left everyone, including the commentators and players on the field, perplexed. A visibly frustrated Dickwella had to walk back to the pavilion after giving himself a self-inflicted sending-off.
