Raiders’ Davante Adams Sends Telling Message About Tom Brady

Raiders’ Davante Adams Sends Telling Message About Tom Brady

Before last season, the Las Vegas Raiders seemed to have a real chance of signing Tom Brady. However, he decided to retire and appears to be done with his NFL career.

Brady will be 47 in August, so it’s unlikely he’ll be able to play again, even if he wants to. That doesn’t stop players from playing with him. Receiver Davante Adams would jump at the chance to catch passes from the future Hall of Famer.

“Of course I would,” Adams said on the July 17 episode of “Club Shay Shay” when asked if he wanted to play with Brady. “You’re going to talk about his age. I don’t care. I don’t care. Tom knows how I feel about him. And the other part of it is, I think I’d be the first person to play with Tom and Aaron (Rodgers). So that would be pretty cool.”

“He still has to be able to throw the ball better than half of these guys in the league.”

Brady is closely tied to the Raiders as he is in the process of purchasing a stake in the team. If there is one team he would play one more season with, it would probably be Las Vegas.

Is Tom Brady going to make a comeback?

At this point, it’s increasingly unlikely that Brady will return to football. He’s expected to start doing play-by-play for FOX Sports, and if he’s approved by the NFL to become a part-owner of the Raiders, the league will have to vote before he’s allowed to play.

Additionally, he’s been out of the NFL for a year and it would likely be difficult for him to get back into the mix given his age. It’s possible that Brady is still an upgrade over what the Raiders currently have with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew, but it’s questionable whether he can really compete in an AFC that’s loaded with young quarterback talent.

Las Vegas Raiders QB’s future is complex

Even if Brady decides to return, it wouldn’t solve the Raiders’ long-term problems at quarterback. O’Connell is only 25 and could play many years in the NFL, but he doesn’t have the athleticism to become the type of quarterback who can compete with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.

The team also faces another problem: It may be too good to be at the bottom of the draft and take a quarterback high in the draft. If the Raiders are consistently selected outside the top 10, it will be very difficult to draft a top-tier quarterback.

That’s why the team could lean on a proven veteran who isn’t too old like Dak Prescott. Unless the team is willing to accept a rebuild or trade the assets needed to get a top-five pick, throwing money at a player like Prescott might be the best option. Until they upgrade the quarterback position, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to realistically compete for a Super Bowl.
