Branthwaite extends Everton contract, sparks Manchester United rumours

Everton are set to offer a new contract to star defender and Manchester United transfer target Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his official X account, formerly Twitter, Romano explained that Everton were ready to step up their efforts to keep Branthwaite at Goodison Park after rejecting two offers from Man Utd this summer.

It remains to be seen exactly how this saga will play out, but Romano insists the Red Devils won’t be paying a crazy fee like £75-80m for Branthwaite, so perhaps it looks encouraging from Everton’s perspective, as long as they can convince the England international to commit his future to the club…

Branthwaite is clearly a top young talent who would be good enough to make an impact at a big club like United, but of course Everton are well within their rights to ask for big money for such an important player.

MUFC have overpaid for a number of their signings in recent years, so it’s not too surprising that EFC may feel they can demand a huge fee as they will feel Branthwaite is of a similar standard to someone like Harry Maguire when he made the move from Leicester City to Old Trafford.

Branthwaite may no longer be a top priority for United, having bolstered their defence with the recent arrival of French wonderkid Leny Yoro from Lille.
