How a Michigan farm has transformed a corn field into a Lions-inspired work of art

Dan Campbell’s face is now a work of art. Not that it wasn’t before, of course, especially for Lions fans.

Campbell, who led the Lions through one of their best seasons in history, now has a corn maze in the shape of his face on an Ingham County farm.

Choice Farm Market near Webberville, about 75 miles northwest of Detroit, is the home of the larger-than-life Campbell-inspired maze. It’s topped off with a “GRIT” hat, a lion’s mane around Campbell’s face, and the “One Pride” and “Go Lions” slogans.

“It was just one of my moments of brilliance,” said Loretta Benjamin, the co-owner of Choice Farm Market and the mastermind behind the maze design.

The maze has become a viral internet sensation, with the Lions themselves sharing its photos across several of their social media pages.

Benjamin chose the design as a way to show her family’s support for Campbell’s record-breaking season and her love for the Detroit Lions, she said.

“My husband and I have been Lions fans our entire lives, and of course, through the good, bad and ugly,” Benjamin said. “We really believe in Dan Campbell, and we just love what he’s doing for the Lions, for the team and for the community.”

Benjamin and her husband plan out a special corn maze for their farm every year and open it up to the public for festivities each fall. This year, the viral design, completed in under 12 hours by Precision Mazes, is one of their favorite designs yet, even though it was unveiled a little earlier than the couple expected after someone flew a drone over the maze and posted the photos to X .

“We don’t normally do our maze reveals until mid-August, but we are absolutely thrilled that people are loving this and having a lot of fun with it,” Benjamin said. “We’re so excited about the progress the Lions are making, and we think we’re not only going to the Super Bowl, but we’re going to win it, too.”

Benjamin reaffirmed his faith in the Lions and Campbell, saying, “We are super excited for this year. We can talk about being Super Bowl contenders and do it, quite honestly so.”

Choice Farm Market will open the corn maze Sept. 28 for their Fall Festival and other interactive, family-friendly activities. Visitors will get a chance to go through the maze for five weeks from the opening, and can also take part in the Farm’s field days, car shows, and markets.
