Harbin International Trailer: This highly anticipated Korean film features a stellar cast including Hyun Bin, Lee Dong-Wook, Park Jung Min, Jo Woo Jin, Jeon Yeo Been and others. It is a biographical spy thriller that follows Korean independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun, who assassinated Japan’s first prime minister in 1909.

Korean movie Harbin is attracting attention for several reasons. Apart from its exciting cast and storyline, it is the transformation of most of its actors, mainly Lee Dong-Wook, that has caught the attention of fans. Also starring Hyun BinThe two Korean stars have become completely rough and unrecognizable in the film’s recently released international trailer.

While Hyun Bin is known for his hit show Crash landing on youLee Dong-Wook is popular for playing the role of the Grim Reaper in another iconic Korean series Elf.

What is the Harbin trailer about?

Harbin Hyun Bin plays the lead role of Korean independence activist Ahn Jung-geun, who in 1909 assassinated Itō Hirobumi, the first prime minister of Japan, after infiltrating Harbin, China to carry out his mission, even as the threat of a traitor within his group looms.

The nearly minute-long trailer is dark, deep, and mysterious, giving many hints about the thrill that awaits the audience. It shows Hyun Bin’s character embarking on an impossible assassination mission that went down in history as an attack on the heart of the enemy forces.

At one point, his Ahn Jung Geun remarks, “The leader of the Japanese wolves who are ravaging Korea, I must kill this old wolf at all costs,” alluding to the difficult journey undertaken by the independence fighters for Korean freedom.

Harbin also features Park Jung Min, Jo Woo Jin and Jeon Yeo-Been like other independence fighters who join forces with Bin. Each actor seems to have done their best to get into the shoes of their respective heroes.

The trailer is also captivating for its remarkable visual design that suggests a great cinematic experience. This is the first collaboration of cinematographer Hong Kyeong Pyo with director Woo Min Ho.

According to the synopsis, Harbin is a spy drama set in 1909. It depicts the intense pursuit and suspicion between those heading to Harbin for a single purpose and those pursuing them.

Harbin has been selected to premiere in the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival Gala program.
