Humble Games' Pokémon-inspired MMO is giving its support to the gorgeous new Metroidvania that was released just days before its publisher's restructuring

Crema, the developer behind the Pokémon-like MMORPG Temtem, has released a statement following mass layoffs at its publisher, Humble Games, to direct its support for a new independent metroidvania, which was released just days before its publisher’s restructuring.

Squid Shock Studios’ gorgeous hand-drawn Metroidvania, Bō: The Path of the Teal Lotuswas also published by Humble Games, which this week confirmed a “restructuring of operations” This would have affected all staff members. Humble Games’ parent company Ziff Davis is reportedly looking to a third party to “manage the list” going forward, in addition to the existing catalog. While a PR representative told GamesRadar+ that developers will not be affected by the changes, Many were caught off guard by the newsand Crema says that “the blow was bigger” for Squid Shock Studios.

“Hello Tamers. This post is a little different than what we usually do, but we felt the need to do it,” said one statement posted on the official Temtem Twitter account begins, before addressing reports that Humble Games staff are being laid off.

“This has caused a lot of uncertainty for developers who work with their brand,” he continues. “Of all these developers, there is one for whom the blow has been the hardest: Squid Shock, which lost the marketing and associated visibility the very week of its launch, eclipsing a moment that should have been celebrated.

“If you like what you see, support them, they deserve it. We send our warmest regards to them and the other teams affected by this sudden event. Thank you all!”

In response to this, Squid Shock Studios writing:“The support from all the other developers is incredible. It really brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so much.”

In another jobSquid Shock Studios confirms that it is still “alive and kicking” and “will continue working on Bō as if nothing has changed.” However, as Crema says, there will still be a lot of uncertainty, not only for the developers but also for the affected staff at Humble Games.
