Shirley Manson Updates Fans About Injury After Garbage Tour Cancellation

Garbage singer Shirley Manson has provided fans with an update on the injury that led to the cancellation of the band’s 2024 tour dates.

On August 7, Manson took to Garbage’s Instagram to share more about his condition, following the band’s announcement on August 1 that all remaining 2024 shows would be canceled due to an injury requiring surgery and rehabilitation.

In his message, Manson describes his condition upon returning home: “I came home from tour in a terrible state. So broken that my poor husband had to push me through Heathrow and Los Angeles airports in a wheelchair. I also had laryngitis and a huge cold sore on my lip.”

Addressing concerns over his vocal health, Manson shared a picture of his vocal cords, saying: “I was freaking out that I had managed to damage my vocal cords on top of everything else, but yesterday I got checked out and everything is as it should be.”

“These are my vocal cords. My doctor said they were beautiful,” she added.

Manson did not initially reveal the nature of his injury when the band announced the cancellation of its concerts.

In a statement posted to Instagram on August 1, they said: “It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of all our remaining dates for the remainder of the year due to an injury that (singer) Shirley (Manson) sustained during our recent European tour which will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct.”

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we apologize to our incredible fans and promoters who support us,” they wrote. “We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

Manson also took to her personal social media account to share her disappointment at having to cancel shows.

“No one is more devastated by this news than I am. You know I would get through this if I could,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the band’s announcement.

Highlights include several appearances at major festivals, including Ohana Fest in Dana Point, California, and HFStival in Washington, D.C. Liz Phair will now replace the band at HFStival, while DEVO will be added to the Ohana Fest bill.
