Zac Efron reveals big plans for NSW property he bought during COVID… after star’s mysterious hospitalization following pool incident

Hollywood star Zac Efron is planning to build a “sustainable” home on a property on the New South Wales north coast.

The High School Musical actor, 36, bought this bush getaway near Byron Bay for $2 million in 2020.

A development application has been filed to build a six-bedroom, two-storey, “zero waste” off-grid residential complex on a 128-hectare site for $2.685 million.

Efron’s name was not listed on the application papers, which were filed with Tweed County Council.

Instead, it was Joost Bakker, an environmental activist and friend of the star, who was named on the documents as the DA’s “promoter”.

But Efron’s name was still used as the title holder, the Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.

Bakker, a former florist, is a well-known environmental activist and designer and often features sustainable housing-related content in his frequent social media posts.

The Efron area is located in a rugged bush landscape near Tomewin, 25km inland from the popular seaside resort of Coolangatta and 75km from Byron Bay.

The plans call for a sprawling off-grid home that will include a gym and be designed using a process called “carbon sequestration,” a process that helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Dubbed ‘Futurecave’, the ultra-modern home was designed by Frank Burridge of architectural firm Main Studio and will be made up of ‘modules’ connected by a walkway.

Offering 830 square metres of space for the house, the modules used in the construction are made from hemp panels.

Features include a “green roof” for plant life. It will also provide a “refuge” for butterflies and fireflies.

According to the report, Efron’s plot is located in a rainforest area and has three streams and waterfalls.

The Disaster Artist star bought the land while he was in Australia during the COVID lockdown.

It comes after Efron insisted he was “happy and healthy” after being hospitalised over the weekend after diving into a pool while on holiday in Ibiza.

He “inhaled a large amount of water into his lungs” after hitting the bottom of the pool.

The lead actor had “showed signs of distress” and was “momentarily dazed” following the incident, sources told the outlet, at which point security officers rushed to help him.

The Ibiza accident comes 11 years after a near-death experience in which the star slipped in a puddle while running around her house in socks.

He then smashed his chin against a granite fountain, leaving his chin “hanging from his face.”

Zac later told Entertainment Tonight that he nearly died after the bizarre injury, explaining, “It was funny. It sucks. I almost died, but I’m okay.”

The movie star said the accident was the cause of his change in appearance, leading to speculation in recent years that he had undergone cosmetic surgery.

Zac has always denied having plastic surgery, instead claiming that the masseter muscles inside his face and jaw “compensated” for his 2013 injury, leading to his change in shape.

The High School Musical star even claimed he didn’t know his transformation had gone viral on social media until his mother told him about the plastic surgery rumors.

Despite his best efforts to dispel the rumors, Zac was recently hit with new accusations after fans watched his latest hit, A Family Affair.
