BEWARE of this Strict Restaurant Cancellation Policy at EPCOT

BEWARE of this Strict Restaurant Cancellation Policy at EPCOT

Deciding where to eat at Disney World is already a difficult choice, you don’t need anything to make it more difficult.

For some of these restaurants, however, it is difficult to GET a reservation for your meal. Some of the most popular Disney World table service restaurants require reservations well in advance, as early as 6 a.m., or 60 days before your trip begins. But it’s still a long way off, and what if something happens and you have to cancel? That shouldn’t be a problem, right? WRONG.

There are a few restaurants at Disney World, especially the more expensive ones, that have pretty drastic cancellation policies that you need to be careful of. One of them is Takumi Teilocated in the Japanese pavilion at EPCOT.

Takumi Tei

This restaurant offers a Multi-course tasting menu with traditional tea service including signature cocktails, premium sake, wine and craft beers. The interior design is inspired by the natural beauty of Japan, Disney said that “the design celebrates the relationship between Japanese craftsmanship and the natural world, while the food is inspired by the wonderful collaboration between nature and the takumi, the artisan.”

Eating at this place is far from cheap, and If you do not cancel your reservation at LEAST 48 hours in advance, or if you do not show up at all, you will be charged a fee of $100 PER PERSON!

A similar fate will befall those who do not cancel their Mr. Paul reservation on time. This recently renovated restaurant in EPCOT France Pavilion is decorated in warm plum and spring green tones with sophisticated yet more contemporary furnishings featuring velvet and leather textures.

Customers who cancel more than 72 hours in advance or who do not show up at all A fee of $100 per person will also be charged. And that’s NOT something you want to deal with on your trip to Disney World.

Now, a similar rule can be found in restaurants located outside of Disney World parks, but located within Disney World hotels, such as Victoria and Albert at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you do not cancel your V&A booking 5 DAYS in advance, you will be charged a fee of $100 per person.

For reference, Most other Disney World park restaurants do not allow changes (including cancellations) within 2 hours of your dining reservation., but if you need to change or cancel, you will be charged a fee of $10 per person. (except at Cinderella’s Royal Table, where you’ll be charged the full experience price per person.) While it’s still not ideal and can add up, it’s a lot better than $100 per person!

So how can you avoid this? We know things can easily change once you’re on vacation, but do your best to make sure your other plans are formed AROUND those expensive meal reservations. Or, if you changed your mind before your trip started, cancel it as soon as you are 100% sure you no longer want it.

It is also very important to Read your reservation email carefully to ensure you understand the cancellation and modification policies. You’re already spending so much money on your Disney World vacation, that the last thing you want is to do something that will increase your credit card bill more than you expected.
