Olympian Imane Khelif files lawsuit over cyberbullying linked to gender controversy | 2024 Olympics, Paris 2024 Olympics, Imane Khelif, Olympics | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

Imane Khelif is taking legal action against those who harassed her online as she was on her way to winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Algerian boxer was wrongly questioned about her gender while competing in the women’s boxing competition, with many internet users wrongly suggesting she was transgender. After a week of online vitriol, Imane I overcame everything to win the gold medal in the ring.

Now that she’s finished competing, she’s responding to the controversy in the courtroom.

Imanethe lawyer of Nabil Boudi told Reuters she filed a complaint in Paris on Friday (Aug 9), claiming she had been the victim of online harassment and cyberbullying.

His lawyer issued a statement, translated by Out.

“After the sporting time comes the legal time. Fresh from winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the boxer Imane Khelif has decided to lead a new fight: that of justice, dignity and honor. Mrs. Khelif “I contacted the firm which yesterday filed a complaint for aggravated cyberbullying with the Paris prosecutor’s office’s online hate unit,” they said.

The statement said: “The criminal investigation will have to determine who initiated this misogynistic, racist and sexist campaign, but will also have to focus on those who fueled this digital lynching. The unfair harassment suffered by the boxing champion will remain the greatest stain of these Olympic Games.”

“Everything that is said about me on social media is immoral. I want to change the opinion of people around the world,” Imane told the press.
