King Frederik X and Crown Prince Christian of Denmark struck victory poses as they celebrated a gold medal for their country at the Paris Olympics.

Ahead of today’s game, the father-son duo took to Instagram to send a message of support to the men’s handball team ahead of their final match against Germany this afternoon.

Alongside a photo of themselves in the stands, they shared a message: “We are ready for the spotlight when the masters of handball play the final in a few moments.

“Let’s hope that Denmark can distinguish itself at the Olympic Games by winning a gold medal.”

After Denmark’s triumph, Frederik and Christian looked delighted, marking the country’s third consecutive Olympic medal in the sport, having won one at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Shortly after the victory, the royal Instagram The account shared a new update from Christian and Frederik: “Congratulations on the gold,” the post read.

The first image showed the proud monarch and his eldest son with wide smiles on their faces, striking victorious poses with their fists raised.

The second picture was taken during the match and shows Frederik and Christian cheering on the Danish team.

The 56-year-old monarch was dressed smartly for the occasion, wearing a white shirt and red trousers, echoing the colours of the Danish flag.

Meanwhile, Christian, the eldest child of Frederik and Queen Mary, looked equally dapper in a tweed blazer and white shirt.

It comes after Queen Mary of Denmark looked cool in an all-white ensemble as she attended an equestrian event at the Olympics last week.

The 52-year-old royal, who stepped out without her husband King Frederik X, was pictured watching the Grand Prix Individual Freestyle Dressage at the Palace of Versailles in France.

Australian-born Queen Mary cut a chic figure in an unbuttoned sleeveless white shirt and matching sun hat. She completed her look with a pair of black sunglasses and minimalist gold jewelry.

Her makeup was subtle, with just a touch of pink lip gloss, while she sported a natural, sun-kissed glow.

Meanwhile, her highlighted brunette locks were styled in natural waves and fell from under her hat to rest delicately on her shoulders.

Unfortunately for Mary, Denmark missed out on the medals and came fifth, with Germany taking the gold and silver places and Great Britain coming third.

The princess appeared deeply absorbed in the event, accompanied by her friend Helle Trolle, a Danish textile designer.

She appeared relaxed in the stands, enjoying the sunshine and appearing to have fun alongside the other spectators.

His appearance followed his viewing of the Grand Prix Special Dressage Teams, which also took place at the Château de Versailles.

The Queen, who looked very elegant, was accompanied by Princess Benedikte, 80, aunt of Mary’s husband King Frederik and younger sister of Denmark’s former monarch Queen Margrethe, 84, who abdicated earlier this year.

Mary looked very elegant in her dark red blazer, the national colour of Denmark. The princess paired her blazer with a sun hat and dark blue framed sunglasses, protecting herself from the sun’s rays.

Her look was completed with several pieces of jewelry, including gold hoop earrings and layered gold necklaces.

Princess Benedikte wore a polo shirt in the same shade, which she also paired with a straw sun hat.

The dressage event decided the team medals, with Germany taking gold and Denmark silver.

Among the Danish dressage riders is Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour, who qualified for the event after the dressage Grand Prix, in which she rode her horse Freestyle.

That day, Queen Mary was photographed meeting the rider, with the women beaming with joy for a photo alongside Mary’s friend Helle Trolle.

The event, which saw Cathrine and Freestyle top the list of competitors, was a qualifier for the team and individual finals.

Speaking about his performance at the time, the rider said: “I’m very relieved and super proud.

“Freestyle’s performance today was magnificent. My plan today was not to force her to do anything, but just to see what she could offer – and what she did today was just something she offered me.”

Freestyle was previously ridden by British rider Charlotte Dujardin, who was forced to withdraw from the Games after a video emerged of her whipping an unknown horse more than 24 times on the legs while at a training venue in the UK.

The footage, which was reportedly sent to the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) on July 22, led to the suspension of three-time gold medallist Dujardin, 39, pending an investigation.

On July 23, Dujardin confirmed that she was indeed the person shown in the video and that the behavior captured in the clip was inappropriate.

Broadcast by Good Morning Britain on July 24, the video shows Dujardin walking alongside the horse, ridden by a 19-year-old girl, as she hits his legs with a whip.
